Today

Two very delightful things about today: First, no rain. Not one drop. Jan Michael even came away with a little sun-burn on his neck. Second, a youth group of very nice, helpful, hard-working kids came out and spent all day working with us. Their combined hours were divided between the home owners, so Brent can add an extra 11 hours to his total for the week.

One crummy thing: Brent learned yesterday that he had to work today, so he left the house at 4:45 this morning to take a load to Oregon. He then came straight from work to the site, arriving at noon, and worked until almost 6:00. So, a very grueling day for poor Brent.

The cupboard under the stairs, just like in Harry Potter!

Sweet baby boy!
I like this one for about 10 different reasons.

Handsome huband, cutie-patootie nephews, crazy-haired me :)

Adoring Uncle & Auntie
Also, our favorite quote from the weekend: Derek had been asking to take a "trip," so Jan Michael took him outside to tromp around. They were headed toward the pond, and just as Jan said, "Derek, do you think we'll see any frogs?", a little one made its appearance by hopping from one lily pad to another. Derek saw it and immediately commanded, "Derek. Hand. Frog! NOW!" Hahahaha, we've been laughing about it all weekend.

Blarghh continued

5:00 this morning: The bug is passed to me. I retreat to the hall bathroom so as not to disturb my sick husband, and make a bed for myself on the floor.

8:30 - Jan Michael wakes up and discovers me lying in the bathroom. I opt to remain there as it the closest place to the facilities.

10:30 - Jan Michael helps me into bed as I am feeling better.

The rest of the day - We enjoy the pleasure of each other's company as well as fine dining (chicken broth and Gatorade).

10:19 - We are not completely healthy, but are feeling much better. Sigh.

Blarghhh

7:00 - Leave home.
7:30 - Arrive at hospital.
8:00 - Jan Michael is admitted to emergency room with dehydration and fever.
10:15 - Leave hospital after two bags of IV fluids and anti-nausea medicine.
10:45 - Arrive at Safeway to buy Gatorade. Discover I have left Jan Michael's wallet at hospital.
11:00 - Drop Jan Michael off at home. Immediately turn around and drive back to hospital.
11:30 - Arrive at hospital. Retrieve wallet.
12:00 - Arrive at home. Go to bed.

:(

My poor, poor, sick Jan Michael. He felt terrible at work today and came home early, and I suspect the stomach flu is the culprit. Rotten!

Value Village = radical

So having gone to high school in the early 90s, I was an eager participant in many a fetching fashion trend. One of my favorites was overalls (but I did not, I repeat, DID NOT leave one strap unhooked to dangle all over the place. At least my conscious is clear of that). Jan Michael was never a fan of overalls, insisting that really they're only appropriate for some sort of work on the farm. I endured a good amount of teasing and scoffing from him during those years, believe me. Anyway, while it's true that I don't have anything to do with a barnyard, I am planning to help Jan Michael and Brent this Saturday with the house construction. And naturally that requires work attire. So I took myself to Value Village, and for a mere $4.99, found the house-building outfit of my dreams. They are comfy, and will let me carry a couple of pencils and a hammer, all without having to use my hands. And I've decided they make me feel young, (or at least younger than I am, I mean.) In conclusion, I'm really quite satisfied with the whole thing.
