Wild animals, wild drummers

On Saturday morning, while Jan Michael was playing basketball, Bill & Eric were driving around the tulip fields, and Tessa was sleeping (she's expecting their first baby!), Sheryl and I took a trip to the UW Farmer's Market. The croissants and brioche alone are worth the trip, but we also oohed and ahhed over beautiful bouquets, ate samples of bread and apple cider and sausage, and bought some lovely swiss chard and organic, grass-fed beef. And then, since we were just a hop, skip & a jump away, we went to the zoo. I love the zoo. I will always love the zoo, even when I am old and gray, and Saturday was a perfect day to visit. The sun was shining, there weren't a million people milling around, and the animals were out and about.
We spent a lot of time with the gorillas. Besides napping and eating, we saw a newborn with her mama, and two young adults doing some very entertaining kung-fu acrobatics.
And this guy scaled straight up that tree just like a lumberjack. The zookeeper said they've seen him balance up there and do some stretches :)

We are going to feed a giraffe when we go to Florida in the fall. And maybe sit on an alligator, too, but that is up for debate.

This is Gertrude. She's one of my favorites.

We all converged Saturday night for dinner and...
another jam session with Jefferson Davis Hogg. We have so many fans that we traded in our tour bus for a tour jet.

For the 700th time, we have an out-of-focus picture. Soon we will have a new camera, and all our troubles will go away.
Dr. B Destruction, Janimal, & Rocker Eric bring down the house :)

My boys had a fabulous time getting a tour of your little zoo online. We have no zoo for 3 hours so they're waiting anxiously for our annual trip. We loved the hippo too, Joey was singing "gertrude the hippo, gertrude the hippo..."

Oh, and give Sheryl a wedgie for me. She hasn't emailed me back! I'm pouting!
