Wild animals, wild drummers

On Saturday morning, while Jan Michael was playing basketball, Bill & Eric were driving around the tulip fields, and Tessa was sleeping (she's expecting their first baby!), Sheryl and I took a trip to the UW Farmer's Market. The croissants and brioche alone are worth the trip, but we also oohed and ahhed over beautiful bouquets, ate samples of bread and apple cider and sausage, and bought some lovely swiss chard and organic, grass-fed beef. And then, since we were just a hop, skip & a jump away, we went to the zoo. I love the zoo. I will always love the zoo, even when I am old and gray, and Saturday was a perfect day to visit. The sun was shining, there weren't a million people milling around, and the animals were out and about.
We spent a lot of time with the gorillas. Besides napping and eating, we saw a newborn with her mama, and two young adults doing some very entertaining kung-fu acrobatics.
And this guy scaled straight up that tree just like a lumberjack. The zookeeper said they've seen him balance up there and do some stretches :)

We are going to feed a giraffe when we go to Florida in the fall. And maybe sit on an alligator, too, but that is up for debate.

This is Gertrude. She's one of my favorites.

We all converged Saturday night for dinner and...
another jam session with Jefferson Davis Hogg. We have so many fans that we traded in our tour bus for a tour jet.

For the 700th time, we have an out-of-focus picture. Soon we will have a new camera, and all our troubles will go away.

The walkingest girls around

The Walk Along the River gals, and little riders, too, of course :) I will say again that I'm so glad to be able meet each week for good exercise and even better company. It's been lovely for me in more ways than one.
Walkers in action!

P.S. I have stolen these pictures from Yumna :)

After a long, cold winter...

we love a good snow flurry at the end of April. It's especially delightful to see a blanket covering the freshly shorn lawn and the tulips smashed to smithereens.

Darling, darling, darling

Caleb & Jen spent the evening with us last night, and besides bringing pizza, they brought....

Denekew. (Their other little ones, Ocean & Jag, were spending the night with their grandparents.) He is so cute and roly-poly and jolly, I can hardly stand it. We're quite smitten with him; it's hard not to be :)

I also met Jen and the kids for lunch on Friday. Ocean & Jag aren't used to seeing Jan or I without the other, and as we were leaving the restaurant, Ocean asked his mom, "Where is the him of her?" Hahahahaha :)
