In the trees

Today was a perfectly perfect summer day: a picnic in the park with the leg warmer-wearing trees, a slow stroll through the Japanese Gardens, an even longer meander through the rest of the arboretum, and two ice cream cones plus a root beer float to finish it all off. I will drift off to sleep tonight with a heart full of lovely memories & a tummy full of vanilla bean - I'm working my second cone as I type! :)

Barbeque fun in the... rain :)

Yesterday Mark and Jessica hosted our annual June barbeque with the old college crew. There was laughing and eating, eating and laughing all afternoon and into the evening. There was also some mad dashing in order to take cover from the rain - it is June in Western Washington, after all! :) Every single time we're together I'm reminded of how fortunate we are to have such wonderful friends-for-the-long-haul.

A pink Strawberry Shortcake jacket, a ruffly white skirt and such unabashed delight over a cupcake means I've found a kindred spirit in Miss B :)
Jan Michael was a little bit like a (nice! kind! not scary!) Pied Piper of Hamlin for game-loving little boys as the day wore on :)

And then, the icing on our very sweet Saturday was another too-beautiful-for-words valley sunset. For the ten millionth time I do declare that I will never, ever not be thrilled by just looking up:

Hello, summer!

Yesterday I returned from the most wonderful weekend at Seabrook with my Mama and my sis. I loved every single second of it, and if it was any indication of how the rest of our summer will unfold, holy cow, we're in for a good one!
